Knowing Dangers of Doctors - Keys to Good Nutrition and to Eating Healthy
Hi friends,
Today I'd like to share an article I found on Mercola.com entitled, "Doctors Are the Third Leading Cause of Death," that discusses some of the dangers of doctors to your health. This article was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) by Dr. Barbara Starfield of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.
"Doctors Are the Third Leading Cause of Death in the U.S. Causing 225,000 Deaths Every Year" - Article Title
Normally, people don't think of doctors as a danger to their health, but rather as an asset to their health. However, doctors are human and they make mistakes which can adversely affect your health.
In addition, they have not been trained in nutrition, healthy eating, and true health. Instead, they have been trained in disease, surgery, medicine and drugs as a way of dealing with people's symptoms. They actually know very little about true health, proper nutrition, health maintenance, and illness prevention. Most of their solutions to your physical problems involve surgery and medical drugs, both of which are very expensive, and both of which are often or usually totally unecessary.
You, my friend, must take responsibility for your own health and the health of your family. You can no longer afford to leave this responsibility to your doctor or to anyone else. You must educate yourself about health, nutrition, eating healthy, and living a healthy lifestyle. You must also learn the truths of prevention of illness.
I do believe there is a place for doctors in our lives; namely, to provide emergency treatment after accidents. For example, when you are in a car accident or when you fall and break your leg, a doctor is a good person to have around to help fix you up.
However, for other purposes such as prevention of illness or treatment of ailments, I no longer believe that a doctor is my or your best choice. If you took a survey of the physical health and habits of medical doctors, I believe that you would find that they are some of the least healthy people you know. In fact, I've heard that many doctors die prematurely of all kinds of ailments that are a result of their unhealthy and stressful lifestyles, including very poor eating habits.
Knowing the dangers of doctors is one more of the keys to good health, to good nutrition, and to healthy eating.
I encourage you to read this article with an open mind.

Avoiding Trans-Fat - Keys to Good Nutrition and To Eating Healthy

Greetings health-conscious friends who value your health,
Today I'd like to share an article with you that I found on NewsTarget about trans-fats and the American diet. I want you to understand why trans-fats are so dangerous to your health so that you will have good reasons to avoid them in your food. Simply put: avoiding trans-fats is one more of the important keys to good nutrition and a major tip to eating healthy.
Trans-fats are hidden in lots of food products in your local supermarket, and they are also prevalent in fast food and restaurant food. This is one more major reason to avoid eating at fast food restaurants that care little about your health and actually serve food that is destructive to your health. It's time to take responsibility for your own health and start avoiding this health-destroying man-made food product everywhere you find it. To your health, the Naked Nutrition Knight.
---------------------------------------
(NewsTarget) All fat is not equal. Most of us are aware that there are good fats and bad fats. But the difference between the two can be confusing. For many years, we were told that unsaturated fat is better than saturated fat. We were also led to believe that if we avoid all animal fat, we are safe and that any vegetable fat is fine. Many of the country’s professional medical associations have even promoted a “healthy” diet that is low in saturated fat for many years.
In reality, it is not that simple. As Enig and Fallon (1998, 1999) point out in their article “The Oiling of America” the American diet before 1910 was largely based on animal fats like butter, eggs, lard and meats, and coronary heart disease and heart attacks were rare. Americans also were less sedentary and often ate locally produced food during those years. There was no refrigerated, cross-country trucking of foods in those days.
The American diet began to change toward one that included more industrially produced options, such as margarines, factory baked goods and vegetable oils in place of lard. Even though research in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s pointed to the fact that were fewer instances of coronary heart disease prior to the dietary changes, American companies were promoting their cereals, corn oil and margarines as beneficial to health and good for lowering cholesterol. It was around that time that the American Heart Association began a campaign (based on research done on rabbits, which are vegetarian animals) to change America’s diet to a “Prudent Diet” where butter was replaced by margarine, breakfast cereals replaced eggs and chicken and fish in place of beef. The familiar food pyramid was created and even taught in public schools.
None of the research supported that dietary model. In fact, there were many published research reports that indicated that the opposite was true. Enig and Fallow write that “in 1961 the AHA published its first dietary guidelines aimed at the public. The authors, Irving Page, Ancel Keys, Jeremiah Stamler and Frederick Stare, called for the substitution of polyunsaturates for saturated fat, even though Keys, Stare and Page had all previously noted in published papers that the increase in CHD was paralleled by increasing consumption of vegetable oils. In fact, in a 1956 paper, Keys had suggested that the increasing use of hydrogenated vegetable oils might be the underlying cause of the CHD epidemic.”
Now, more and more research is indicating that Keys was right in 1956. Trans-fats (hydrogenated vegetable oils) are dangerous to health and still in wide use. While most animal fat sources are saturated, which just means they are made of straight chains of carbon and hydrogen that pack together easily and are relatively solid at room temperature, most vegetable sources are unsaturated. They are formed by more crooked chains of atoms and since they don’t pack together easily are more likely to be liquid at room temperature (or even below that).
In order to take a vegetable source and make it into a butter-like substance, you have to modify its structure. This process is called “hydrogenation” and was discovered and patented by a French scientist. Later, Proctor and Gamble obtained the rights to that patented process for use in the United States. Crisco Oil™ soon became the shortening of choice in American kitchens.
The problem with hydrogenation is that the process turns a healthy fat into a dangerous fat. According to Enig and Fallow’s article, this process turns the vegetable-sourced unsaturated oils into straight “packable” molecules, by changing the placement of the hydrogen atoms at the location of their double bonds. In nature, most double bonds occur in the “cis” configuration, which means that both hydrogen atoms are on the same side of the carbon chain in the place on the chain where there is a double bond.
In the cis configuration, fats bend or kink at the double bond, preventing them from packing together easily. Hydrogenation moves one hydrogen atom across to the other side of the carbon chain at the point of the double bond allowing the chain to straighten out and become a “plastic” fat that can have a much higher melting temperature. In its normal state, unsaturated fats have that double bond site where vital chemical reactions take place. These reactions are critical to the ability of living cells to do their duties. When you create the trans-fat, you make a molecule that is similar enough to natural (saturated) fats that the body takes them in. Once they have been ingested, their altered chemical structure creates havoc with thousands of necessary chemical reactions—everything from energy production to synthesis of prostaglandins, which are critical to many body functions. Overall adverse effects are seen even when consumed in small amounts: 1% to 3% of total energy intake, or approximately 20 to 60 calories (2g to 7 g) for a person consuming 2,000 calories per day, according to the investigators. "Thus complete or near-complete avoidance of industrially produced trans fats may be necessary to avoid adverse effects and would be prudent to minimize health risks," said Dariush Mozaffarian, M.D., at the Harvard School of Public Health, and colleagues including Walter Willett, M.D., and Meir Stampfer, M.D.
The current research is so definitive about the harmful effects of trans-fat consumption, that many states have banned the use of trans-fats in public restaurants (like New York) and the Centers for Science in the Public Interest has filed a lawsuit against fast-good giant Burger King.
Trans-fats can hide in many food ingredients. In the CSPI news release they state that “Numerous fried and non-fried foods at Burger King have alarming levels of trans fat, according to CSPI. A King-size Onion Rings has 6 grams of trans-fat. A regular-size order of Chicken Tenders with a large order of French fries has 8 grams of trans-fat. A Sausage Biscuit with a large order of Hash Browns has an astounding 18 grams of trans-fat—more than someone should consume in 9 days.” Another disturbing fact is that, even though most companies that label their food include the amount of trans-fat present, they are not require to report any amount less than one gram. So, if a serving has half of that, they don’t have to report it. Eating several servings could, in fact, put someone over their daily safe consumption without knowing it.

Pt 1 Reading Food Labels - Keys to Good Nutrition and Tips to Eating Healthy

THE ABSOLUTE NECESSITY OF
READING FOOD LABELS
When it comes to keys to good nutrition and tips to eating healthy, what could be more important than always reading food labels before you buy something to eat?!
This is one of those life-long wise habits that you should be practicing every day without even thinking about it.
Good nutrition and healthy eating begin with carefully reading the LIST OF INGREDIENTS on all the food items you're considering purchasing.
A short lesson on reading the list of ingredients for food:
A. The list of ingredients is in order of the largest ingredients to the smallest. In other words, the first ingredient is the biggest ingredient in the product.
B. The most important ingredients in the list are the first three or four ingredients which make up the bulk of the product.
C. Food manufacturers can often be quite deceptive in the way they list their ingredients. For example, if the biggest ingredient is sugar, they will often break it into different kinds of sugar in smaller amounts so that sugar doesn't end up being the number one ingredient on the label. They might use Aspartame, maltodextrin, sucrulose, high-fructose corn syrup, etc. to hide the fact that the biggest ingredient is sugar, so beware of this deceptive trick.
D. Food manufacturers often disguise unhealthy and often dangerous ingredients like mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) under more innocent sounding titles such as hydrolized yeast, natural flavors, etc. Do a google search on "The dangers of MSG" for a more complete list of deceptive titles for MSG.
I encourage you to check out one of my earlier postings, September 11, 2007, entitled: "8 Deceptions of Food Manufacturers' Ingredients Lists..."
When you're reading food labels, you need to look for the good, the bad, and the ugly! You need to train yourself to notice the good quality ingredients, while at the same time to be able to sniff out the bad, dangerous, and toxic ingredients to avoid. Here's a little help for you regarding reading food ingredients lists.
BAD, UNHEALTHY, AND TOXIC INGREDIENTS TO WATCH OUT FOR AND AVOID
1. Avoid all products with dangerous and toxic sweeteners that include the following: High-fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, Aspartame, Splenda, Sucrulose, white refined sugar, brown sugar, sucrose, fructose, saacharin, Sweet 'N Low, dextrose, maltodextrin, NatraTaste, etc. These artificial man-made sweeteners have all been proven to be dangerous to your health, toxic to your body, and cause all kinds of health problems. Avoid them at all costs. Beware, they are hiding in most food products, but especially in soda, fruit juice, ice cream, desserts, pastries, cookies, candy, cakes, gum, etc.
2. Avoid all products with hydrogenated and partially-hydrogenated oils, also known as "trans fats." These are put in most foods to make them taste richer and smoother to your tongue. These are unnatural, man-made, highly processed oils that are extremely unhealthy and detrimental to your health. Avoid all products with them. Also, avoid all products made with cottonseed oil, palm oil, soybean oil, and Canola oil (which is a genetically modified oil). These are the worst oils for your body. Also avoid all margarine products, Crisco, Olestra, and Olean; these are extremely toxic and destructive to your health.
3. Avoid all products with mono-sodium glutamate (MSG), soy sauce, and teriyaki sauce. This is an excito-toxin that actually kills brain cells by overstimulating them. This toxic ingredients is added to all kinds of foods in the supermarket and in restaurants to make food taste better and to make you fat. When something has MSG added to it, it over-excites your taste buds, making you think that the food is very delicious. The end result is that you keep eating more and more of that food, you eventually start getting fat, and you become addicted to the MSG in that food. This happened to me with "Chinese Orange Chicken" at a popular fast food restaurant; I became addicted to it and gained a lot of weight. You'll also notice that most potato chips and other salty snacks are spiked with MSG to make them taste so good. You may not know this, but soy sauce and teriyaki sauce have naturally occurRing MSG in them, so you will want to avoid products with these ingredients as well.
4. Avoid all products with white processed flour (aka, enriched wheat flour), white processed rice, pasteurized and homogenized milk and dairy products, artificial colors and flavors (which are nothing more than toxic chemicals), and anything labeled "fat free" or "sugar free" or "low carbs" or "net carbs" or "diet."
5. Avoid all products that are labeled as having shellfish scavengers such as shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, scallops, oysters, etc. and avoid all "farm-raised" fish products. All of these are unhealthy and have toxic chemicals in them.
6. Finally, avoid all pork and pork products, as well as all luncheon deli meats which are loaded sodium nitrates. Pork products are among the very worst that you can ever eat because they are so loaded with toxic substances that harm your body.
A SAD SKIPPY EXAMPLE
Here's an example of a food that appears healthy, but when you read the ingredients list, you find that it is very unhealthy. "Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter - Ingredients: roasted peanuts, sugar, hydrogenated vegetable oils (cottonseed, soybean and rapeseed) to prevent separation, salt." The whole food peanuts are healthy, but everything else added is not healthy at all and should be avoided. Instead, look for all natural peanut butter made with just peanuts and sea salt.
In my next posting, I'll share what the "GOOD FOOD INGREDIENTS" are that you should be looking for when you are reading food labels. It's not enough to just avoid the bad and ugly stuff; you also need to be looking for the good and healthy ingredients that will truly feed your body and provide it with the good nutrition it needs. Until then...

Avoiding Surprise Ingredients in Fast Food - Keys to Eating Healthy & to Good Nutrition

I'd like to share an article I just read from NewsTarget.com on the surprise ingredients in fast food. Avoiding these kinds of health-destroying "surprises" is just one more of the keys to good nutrition and tips to eating healthy.
Click on the link below to read the full article.
Surprise Ingredients In Fast Food
After reading this article, it really makes you think twice before ever stopping to eat at one of the national chain fast food restaurants like Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, etc.
In fact, this article confirmed to me what I already suspected; namely, that fast food is loaded with very unhealthy and often toxic additives that cause people all kinds of health problems and that contribute to the growing problem of obesity in America.
The plain truth is this: if you're away from home and want to eat a healthy meal, DO NOT dare go to a fast food restaurant. It simply is not worth the risk to your health. Along similar lines, I have a sneaking suspicion that most chain restaurants are just as guilty when it comes to sneaking in all kinds of very unhealthy and toxic additives into the food they serve, so beware.
My conclusion is that you, and you alone, are responsible for your health and nutrition. DO NOT entrust your health and nutrition to fast food restaurants, or regular restaurants, or even to your local grocery store. Instead, you must educate yourself as to what good nutrition is and how to eat right, and then you've got to be proactive and find ways to make sure that you are only eating good healthy nutritious whole food.
And always remember this: the reasons that the fast food restaurants put such unhealthy and often toxic additives and junk (not even fit for animal feed) into the "food" they serve you are:
1. To make the food taste better (think "MSG," salt, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fat, etc.) so that you'll keep buying it over and over again.
2. To make you fat (think MSG, salt, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fat, etc.) All of these things also contribute to making you eat more of their food and to make you fat. Their philosophy is that fat people will eat more food and bring them greater profits.
3. To make you addicted to their food (think MSG, salt, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fat, etc.) Many of the super-unhealthy and toxic additives are added to get people addicted to fast food. For example, MSG is an "excito-toxin" that causes the brain and taste buds to over-react so that you get addicted to it and want more.
4. To make the fast food look more appealing (think food colorings, etc.)
Final Word from the Naked Nutrition Knight:
Fast food is destroying the health of America and the world; therefore, avoid it at all costs, no matter how good it looks or tastes! Fast food is all about looks and taste, but with the surprise ingredients it is dangerous to your health and will cause you all kinds of long-term health problems. In addition, fast food will make you fat, overweight, and possibly obese.
Start now learning how to eat right and how to give your body the good nutrition it craves, deserves, and needs to function and to live with long-term vitality. If you don't feed your body properly, it will let you down by breaking down, and then what do you have after you've lost your health? Nothing!

Photography Dream - Keys to Good Nutrition and to Eating Healthy

Welcome to my blog on maximum health and optimal nutrition.
Today I'd like to share with you one of my passions: inspirational photography. I'll share a little bit later how this relates to eating healthy and good nutrition.
I have been very busy lately preparing for a photography contest that was held today. I'm part of a local photographer's club called the Blue Ridge Photographic Society of North Carolina. Every Saturday these friends of mine and I meet to improve our photography and Photoshop skills, and once a month we have a photography contest focused on a specific theme. This month's theme was "autumn."
I've spent much of my spare time this past month photographing the beautiful and spectacular colors of the autumn foliage here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. I always carry my camera and tripod with me everywhere I go because I never know when I'm going to see an inspirational scene that I want to capture. I have been very busy this past month photographing the fall colors every chance I could get. The past week I've been doing all of my post-photography work in Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Well, my friends, today was the big day. Six of us met together and submitted our 2-3 photographs each, and then we all individually and anonymously judged the photographs and voted for the best photograph of the month. I am happy to say that one of my three photographs won the best photograph! I was elated to win, and I thank God for this significant blessing. The winning photograph, entitled "Autumn Solitude," is of a pristine lake in the Blue Ridge Mountains with a kayaker paddling across in the serene autumn solitude.
I am blessed to be able to share the three photographs with you today that I submitted into our competition. I hope that you will enjoy them and be inspired by the awesome beauty of God's creation. Let the sense of wonder be kindled in your heart as you view these pictures.
Why am I sharing these photographs with you and telling you about my photography?
I'm sure you're wondering how this relates to my topic of keys to good nutrition and tips to eating healthy.
The simple fact is this: one of my God-given gifts and passions is photography, and I have a whole food nutritional supplement home business that is helping me finance my dream of becoming a professional landscape photographer. Building my URI International nutritional business is not an end in itself, but rather a means to an end. My greatest passion in this life is to love God and serve Him, which includes loving people and serving them. I want to use my URI business to finance my dreams of missions, teaching health and nutrition seminars, training, hospitality, traveling, ministry, and photography.
You see, nutrition and photography are only two of my passions, and yet, they're very much connected to my URI nutritional home business. Not only will my nutrition business provide the financial resources to fund my dreams and achieve my purposes in this life, but it will free up my time so that I can pursue my dreams and accomplish all that God has called me to do. It takes time and money to go on mission trips, to travel and teach, to have a fruitful hospitality ministry, to minister and serve people, and to achieve my photography goals. I hope you now understand why I have shared my photography with you today and how it relates to my URI nutritional supplement business.
What are your dreams and goals? What is your God-ordained purpose in this life? What vision do you have for the future? I encourage you to think about these important issues and write down your purposes, goals, and dreams. Ask God to show you what specific purposes He has for your life. Allow Him to resurrect old dreams that have died or have been neglected. And then ask yourself how having your own URI nutritional home business might be a way for you to achieve the time freedom and financial freedom that is necessary for you to pursue and fulfill your purpose in this life.

Here is Part III of the 12 secrets to health and longevity. In case you missed Part I, I'll repeat the introductory question and comments.
Question: What do I have to do to live a long and healthy life?
Here's my short answer...
Listen, know, and understand that there are keys of knowledge that will help you unlock the secrets to a long and healthy life.
These keys to good nutrition and to healthy eating will open a whole new world of health, life, and vitality to you. I believe you were created by God and destined to live a life of health and prosperity.
To learn the first 8 secrets to health and longevity, you'll have to go back and look at the previous two blog postings dated October 26, 2007. There you will find the first 8 keys to unlocking the door to living a long and healthy life.
Here, now, are the final four secrets to health and longevity...
9. TAKE SOME HIGH QUALITY ORGANIC WHOLE FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
Find some high quality live whole food nutritional supplements that you can add to your diet in order to fill in your nutritional gaps and in order to protect your health and combat the effects of toxins in our environment. I strongly recommend an amazing product called, "The Feast," made by URI International. It has over 70 live whole food greens, vegetables, fruits, and berries in a dry InstaFresh juice powder form. I also recommend the following whole food nutritional supplements that are all very healthy and nutrient dense: barley grass juice, alfalfa leaf juice, wheat grass juice, kelp, Klamath Lake algae, chlorella, spirulina, oat grass juice, carrot juice, noni-juice, mangosteen, wolfberry-goji, acai berry, blackberry, blueberry, pomegranate, bilberry, elderberry, cranberry, flax seed, oat bran, brown rice fiber complex, almond seed, sunflower seed, chia seed, sesame seed, etc. By the way, all of these nutrients are ingredients in "The Feast." You many also be interested in "The Feast - Supercharged," which has some additional energizing berries, seeds, and leaves. It has the same blend of superior ingredients as The Feast, but with six additional energizing ingredients including green tea extract and green coffee bean extract, etc.
I would also strongly recommend these super-powerful live whole food nutritional supplements that I take every day: living probiotics, living Homeostatic Soil Organisms (HSO), all-natural plant based active enzymes, Himalayan crystal salt (full spectrum salt with over 72 trace minerals), GTF chromium, extra virgin organic coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, organic all-natural unheated and unfiltered local honey, and Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar. Each one of these whole food nutritional supplements are powerful life-giving foods that God created to help your body live long and healthy. Add them to your daily diet so that you can receive the incredible health benefits they offer.

You can also go directly to my website to get more information on these incredibly healthy whole food nutritional supplements offered by URI International. Click on the link at the top of the left column. Or just click here: URI Nutritional Supplements and The FEAST
10. DETOXIFY YOUR BODY AND ITS ENVIRONMENT
Periodically cleanse your body from toxins with these seven types of important cleanses: colon cleanse, liver/goll bladder cleanse, kidney/bladder cleanse, parasite cleanse, heavy metal cleanse, candida cleanse, and a whole-body cleanse. Give yourself a daily dry brush massage after showering. Take a dry sauna or infared sauna to sweat out built-up toxins. Use an air purification system to keep your home air quality healthy. Wash sheets and towels in organic all-natural soap. Get all mercury amalgam fillings and all metal removed from your teeth. Avoid and eliminate antiperspirants, deodorants, sunblocks, toxic cleaning supplies, air fresheners, non-stick cookware, all use of microwave ovens, fluoride toothpastes, fluorescent lighting, dry cleaning, hot tubs, and steam saunas.
11. PRACTICE GIVING AND RECEIVING LOVE; LEARN TO BE FORGIVING AND ACCEPTING; AND BE THANKFUL
Learning to practice and do these things is critical to your health and longevity. Each of these things will have a healthy and positive effect on your health, and they will be health and life to other people. Keeping a positive and thankful attitude will greatly benefit your health. You were created to love and to be loved, so it's critically important for you to learn how to give love and to receive love. One of my spiritual leaders put it this way: "When you get to heaven, God is going to ask you this question - 'Did you learn to love?' What will your answer be?" One big part of loving is learning to forgive others when they hurt you, as well as forgiving yourself when you do something wrong or stupid. Holding on to unforgiveness only leads to poisoning yourself with bitterness. Unforgiveness makes you a prisoner and destroys your life. Refusing to forgive someone is like drinking deadly poison yourself while thinking it's going to hurt the person who offended you. I have read studies that show that unforgiveness and bitterness are actually toxic to the body and can lead to all kinds of major physical health problems, including the big "C-".
Another aspect of loving is learning to accept other people for who they are and as they are. Sure, nobody's perfect, not even you, so it's important to learn to accept yourself and others with all of their shortcomings. We each have our own strengths and weaknesses, and it is wise to learn to accept that about ourselves and others. Finally, it's also important to have a positive and thankful attitude in this life. Look for the good in other people, and give out plenty of sincere compliments. As you've heard since childhood, "Count your many blessings, name them one by one." God loves a cheerful giver who blesses other people and who lives with a grateful heart. Your attitude in this life is critical to your physical health. If you want to live a long and healthy life, you've got to let go of negative attitudes, complaining, and a critical spirit, and you've got to embrace a life of love, forgiveness, acceptance, positive attitudes, and a thankful heart.
12. DEVELOP A CLOSE FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD
King Solomon wrote: "My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity." (Proverbs 3:1-2) This is encouraging us to follow God's ultimate health plan for our lives by holding on to His teaching and keeping His commands. Of course, this begins with a personal relationship with God, through which we grow in a close friendship with Him based on love for Him and our obedience to His commands. When you learn to offer your body as a living sacrifice by following God's ultimate health plan, you'll enjoy a long life, peaceful, abundant, and prosperous life, and you'll be honoring your family and God.

Part II - 12 Secrets to Health and Longevity: Keys to Good Nutrition and to Eating Healthy
Here is Part II of the 12 secrets to health and longevity. In case you missed Part I, I'll repeat the introductory question and comments.
Question: What would I say if someone asked me what they had to do to live a long and healthy life?
Answer: I'd say, "Do you want the short answer or the long answer?"
5. GIVE YOUR BODY THE REST IT NEEDS TO REJUVENATE ITSELF
Get 8 or 9 hours of sleep a night, and make sure to go to bed by 10 pm. Take a short power nap when you can. Learn how to manage stress and to take better care of your body. Give your body the Sabbath day of rest your Creator made for your rejuvenation from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. The seventh day of the week was created to be a day of rest for mankind. It was made for man to relax and rest, to take a mental and physical break from his work, and to connect with his Creator in a special way. This is a great day to spend more time alone with God, and to spend special time with your family and friends.
6. FAST FROM FOOD ONCE A WEEK
Learn the extremely healthy habit of therapeutic fasting. One day a week fast from all food and just drink natural spring water. This will give your body the time and rest it needs to purge itself of toxins and heal itself. Once or twice a year go on a longer juice fast of 7-21 days for a greater detoxification process and more thorough healing process. Fasting is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body, so make it a regular part of your life and enjoy the health benefits.
7. EXERCISE DAILY
Daily exercise is a very important part of reducing stress in your body and mind. It also helps to keep your muscles strong and flexible. In addition, daily exercise will help keep you regular. One of the best things you can do to exercise is to take a 30-60 minute power walk outside in the fresh air and in the sunlight. Remember to also practice deep breathing exercises to increase the oxygen in your lungs and body. Do vigorous aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Lift weights every other day to increase and maintain your muscles (strength training). Use a "rebounder" (mini-trampoline) for 5-10 minutes a day. And finally, be sure to enjoy the pleasure of vigorous sex (aka - sexercise) with your spouse daily. It's great for your health and your relationship, and it's a gift of God to enjoy.
8. KEEP YOUR INTESTINES CLEAN WITH FIBER & REGULAR BOWEL MOVEMENTS
Constipation is dangerous to your health and can lead to all kinds of health problems. It is a huge problem in America, and it is very much a result of eating the standard American diet of highly processed and refined foods made with things like white flour, white sugar, refined salt, high-fructose corn syrup, processed meats, fast food, junk food, etc. Most Americans don't eat enough vegetables and fruit in their diet, and therefore they do not get enough fiber in their intestinal tract. Some of the most prominent nutritionists and doctors believe that most illnesses can be traced back to the intestines and constipation. Make it a habit to eat plenty of high fiber vegetables, fruits, seeds, grains, and nuts to keep yourself regular. Do plenty of exercise and drink lots of natural water. For more information on fiber, keeping your colon clean, and regular bowel movements, see my blog on September 22, 2007.

Part I - 12 Secrets to Health and Longevity: Keys to Good Nutrition and to Eating Healthy

Question: What would I say if someone asked me what they had to do to live a long and healthy life?
Answer: I'd say, "Do you want the short answer or the long answer?"
Here's my short answer...
Listen, seek, research, learn, study, and understand that there are keys of knowledge that will help you unlock the secrets to a long and healthy life. These keys to good nutrition and to healthy eating will open a whole new world of health, life, and vitality to you. I believe you were created by God and destined to a life of health and prosperity.
1. EAT ONLY HEALTHY ORGANIC NATURAL WHOLE FOODS
Eat foods that are grown organically, not with chemical pesticides and herbicides. Eat live whole foods, not processed foods. Eat natural foods, not artificial foods and additives. Eat foods that are grown naturally, without hormones and antibiotics. Eat raw foods. Try to eat at least 75% of your foods raw in their natural whole food state. Eat a lot of vegetables and greens, organic of course. Also eat plenty of fruits and berries. Eat non-GM foods; avoid all genetically modified and engineered foods. Eat whole food grains, legumes, beans, seeds, and nuts. Eat only organically grown and grass fed natural chicken, turkey, lamb, and beef. Eat only wild ocean fish with fins and scales, and avoid all farm raised fish and seafood scavengers. Eat only full spectrum Himalayan crystal salt, avoiding all table salt (sodium chloride). Eat traditionally fermented lactic acid foods like sauerkraut, sour pickles, miso, raw yogurt, raw kefir, apple cider vinegar, etc.
2. AVOID ALL MAN MADE PROCESSED "FOODS" MADE WITH THE FOLLOWING
Artificial sweeteners like aspartame, nutrasweet, splenda, sucrulose, saacharin; table salt (sodium chloride); white sugar, brown sugar, fructose, dextrose, sucrose, corn syrup, high-fructose corn syrup; white processed flour and enriched wheat flour; white processed rice; pasteurized and homogenized milk and dairy products; MSG, soy sauce, and teriyaki sauce; cottonseed oil, palm oil, hydrogenated oil (trans fat) and partially hydrogenated oil, Crisco, Olestra, Olean, and all margarine products; canned and bottled juice, sodas, diet sodas, coffee, caffeine, caffeinated teas, and alcohol; shellfish scavengers (shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, scallops, oysters, etc.); deep-fried foods; all pork and pork products; deli luncheon meats loaded with sodium nitrates; "farm-raised" fish; fast food; junk food; artificial colors and flavors (toxic chemicals); anything labeled "fat free" or "sugar free" or "low carbs" or "net carbs;" chlorinated and fluoridated tap water; and anything microwaved. All of these things are toxic to your body and will poison your system. Avoid all these refined, processed, denatured, fattening, pre-packaged, sugar-laden, overcooked, toxic, man-made "food."
3. DRINK ONLY PURE NATURAL SPRING WATER
Drink your body weight in ounces every day. If you're 160 pounds, then drink 160 ounces of water a day. Never drink tap water that is loaded with chemicals such as chlorine and fluoride.
4. LEARN HOW TO EAT PROPERLY
This includes the following: eat only when you're really hungry; eat slowly and chew your food very well; relax when you eat and enjoy the experience; practice conscious under-eating (this is the number one longevity and health principle); eat your whole meal within a one-hour period; eat all fruit by itself; don't drink liquids during or right after your meal; and always remember to give thanks to God for the food He provides. Keep in mind that overeating is one of the main causes of premature aging and degenerative illnesses.
Stay tuned for Part 2 and Part 3 of these 12 secrets to health and longevity...

Change Your Salt, Change Your Life - Keys to Good Nutrition and Tips to Eating Healthy
Today I'd like to share with you a product I discovered about a year ago that I just love and that is very healthy for me and my family. It's called "Miracle Krystal Salt." Since I discovered this product, I have stopped using all processed table salt, and now I only use Miracle Krystal Salt in my kitchen. It tastes great and is extremely healthy. This is just one more of the keys to good nutrition and tips to eating healthy.

What Is Miracle Krystal Salt?
Miracle Krystal Salt is an ancient pure salt that has been compressed naturally over time by great mountainous mass to form a crystal matrix. All the minerals in the salt are attached in a structure that makes the minerals easily accessible by our cells. Our bones and enzymes are actually crystalline structures, so if you put something in your body that matches the body's structure, it can easily be utilized and taken in by the cell. In Krystal Salt, all elements are incorporated into a crystalline structure. This results in a much higher life force field, since crystalization is nature's way of storing life force.
Krystal Salt is the Ultimate Mineral Supplement
Of the 84 mineral elements found in the human body, 72 are believed to be essential ingredients of a healthy diet. Krystal Salt contains these 72 mineral elements in the perfect crystal matrix and ultimate ionic form (electrically charged).
Krystal Salt is the Ultimate Antioxidant
Krystal Salt is the only antioxidant that works everywhere in the body because it contains all 72 mineral elements that the human body consists of in ideal proportions. Due to the immense amount of spare electrons that all of these elements carry in Krystal Salt, they have great antioxidant properties. Once Krystal Salt is introduced into the body, a profound regeneration of the cell membranes becomes possible. Other antioxidants are also enhanced in their effectiveness when Krystal Salt is taken.
The Biggest Misunderstanding in the History of Dietary Nutritional Science
Forget everything you have ever been told about salt. Today there is a great misunderstanding about the value and benefits of salt in our diet. How did this happen?
Home called salt a "divine substance." Plato described it as "especially dear to the gods." The Celtic word for salt is "holy" or "sacred." From the beginning of recorded history, salt was exalted and synonymous with virtue. Jesus refers to his own as, "The salt of the earth, and the light of the world." Salt was so precious that spilling it was considered a bad omen. This may make you wonder how this vital sacred food has become so undesirable and generally considered bad for you today.
Depending on where the salt came from and how it was produced, it would vary in color, taste, and cleanliness. It started with the industrial revolution, when certain industrialists learned how to chemically clean and purge salt at very high temperatures, thus removing the important minerals that were considered impurities, yielding a pure white sodium chloride. You can learn more about the salt refining process by going to www.saltinstitute.org/13.html. People loved the new white table salt. It was sparkly clean and white, and with the addition of a few other chemicals (aluminum hydroxide) to prevent caking, it would pour easily. This "pure" sodium chloride no longer has the mineralizing and balancing effects of natural salt and medical literature abounds with evidence of the harmful effects that result from over consumption of this refined salt. The foundation of life became what many now consider to be the foundation of illness and death. Help us remove this scourge from our lives.
CHANGE YOUR SALT, CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
You can help correct this misunderstanding and this scourge once and for all by doing two things. First, eliminate all refined table salt (sodium chloride) out of your diet. Second, embrace the ionic mineralization of up to 84 minerals in the crystal power matrix of Miracle Krystal Salt. Simply change your salt, and you will change your life. It's easy and affordable, so act now. Do it for yourself and do it for your family.
I strongly encourage you to order some of this amazing and extremely healthy Himalayan Miracle Krystal Salt. On the left side column of this blog, you will find an affiliate link that will connect you with a provider of this incredible product. Otherwise, you can click here: Himalayan Krystal Salt - Very healthy full-spectrum unprocessed salt with 70+ minerals and nutrients

Healthy Traditional Diets Offer Keys to Good Nutrition and to Eating Healthy

I would like to introduce you to The Weston A. Price Foundation for Wise Traditions in Food, Farming, and the Healing Arts.
This foundation was founded by a nutritionist forerunner who discovered many secrets to health and nutrition by studying the lives and traditional diets of primitive peoples outside of the industrialized nations of the world.
The Weston A. Price Foundation is a great resource for anything to do with nutrition and health. I encourage you to visit their website:
Click here: The Weston A. Price Foundation
The following article from this website focuses on the common characteristics of healthy traditional diets. These characteristics are very significant and are keys to good nutrition and to eating healthy.
Characteristics of Traditional Diets
- The diets of healthy primitive and non-industrialized peoples contain no refined or denatured foods such as refined sugar or corn syrup; white flour; canned foods; pasteurized, homogenized, skim or low-fat milk; refined or hydrogenated vegetable oils; protein powders; artificial vitamins or toxic additives and colorings.
- All traditional cultures consume some sort of animal protein and fat from fish and other seafood; water and land fowl; land animals; eggs; milk and milk products; reptiles; and insects.
- Primitive diets contain at least four times the calcium and other minerals and TEN times the fat soluble vitamins from animal fats (vitamin A, vitamin D and the Price Factor) as the average American diet.
- In all traditional cultures, some animal products are eaten raw.
- Primitive and traditional diets have a high food-enzyme content from raw dairy products, raw meat and fish; raw honey; tropical fruits; cold-pressed oils; wine and unpasteurized beer; and naturally preserved, lacto-fermented vegetables, fruits, beverages, meats and condiments.
- Seeds, grains and nuts are soaked, sprouted, fermented or naturally leavened in order to neutralize naturally occuring antinutrients in these foods, such as phytic acid, enzyme inhibitors, tannins and complex carbohydrates.
- Total fat content of traditional diets varies from 30% to 80% but only about 4% of calories come from polyunsaturated oils naturally occurring in grains, pulses, nuts, fish, animal fats and vegetables. The balance of fat calories is in the form of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids.
- Traditional diets contain nearly equal amounts of omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids.
- All primitive diets contain some salt.
- Tradtional cultures consume animal bones, usually in the form of gelatin-rich bone broths.
- Traditional cultures make provisions for the health of future generations by providing special nutrient-rich foods for parents-to-be, pregnant women and growing children; by proper spacing of children; and by teaching the principles of right diet to the young.
As you look at the above characteristics, what sticks out to you the most?
The biggest thing that caught my attention was the fact that these healthy primitive people don't eat any refined or denatured foods such as refined sugar, flour, or corn syrup, and they don't eat any canned foods, pasteurized or homogenized milk, refined or hydrogenated vegetable oils, or any artificial food additives. Of course they wouldn't because they live in primitive cultures outside of the influence of the industrialized world. In one way this makes me jealous because they have much purer food choices than we do. They don't have to cut these unhealthy things out of their diet or avoid them because they just aren't available to them as they are to us.
Another thing that caught my attention is that these healthy people groups consume animal protein and fat from a variety of different animals, and in doing so they end up consuming ten times the fat soluble vitamins from animal fats as the average American does.
I wasn't surprised that they eat many of their foods raw such as raw dairy products, raw honey, raw fruits, raw cold-pressed oils, etc. It was also interesting to note that they do eat naturally preserved, lacto-fermented vegetables, fruits, beverages, meats, and condiments.
I hope this short list encourages you to take another look at your diet and compare it with the traditional diets of these healthy non-industrialized primitive people groups. These are the cultures that have the best health, the best teeth, and that do not have the myriad of modern sicknesses and healthy problems, including the Big-"C," that are so prevalent among modern, industrialized, western nations. To me it is obvious that there is a direct relationship between people's diets and their health problems or lack thereof.
The "standard American diet" (SAD) is literally poisoning our people to death and causing so many modern sicknesses and illnesses that are destroying the lives of millions of Americans. It's time to put an end to this insanity by going back to our roots and the healthy diets of our forefathers. It's time to reject the standard American diet with all of its toxic additives, genetically modified and engineered "foods," and all of the poisons that are sprayed on our food while it is growing. It's time to stop eating processed and denatured foods that are killing our families and destroying the health of our nation.

Eating Soured or Fermented Foods Is a Key to Good Nutrition and a Tip to Eating Healthy

Today I'd like to share with you another key to good nutrition and to eating healthy - fermented foods.
QUESTION:
Europeans eat lots of fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, sour pickles, sour milk, sour bread, etc.
What nutritional advantage does sour foods have?
ANSWER:
All people groups known for their long life and exceptionally good health consume a lot of fermented foods in their diet - the Hunzas, Bulgarians, Russians, and Germans. Sauerkraut is an essential part of the German diet. Sour bread, sour vegetables, and sour milk are important parts of the Bulgarian diet. One of the main staples of the Russian diet is black sour bread. In fact, the average Russian eats two pounds of it a day.
For thousands of years, fermented foods have been used not only as food, but also for their curative properties. People with arthritis, scurvy, ulcers, digestive disorders, and colds have experienced amazing results from consuming fermented foods on a regular basis. People have eaten these foods for centuries without knowing why they had such a powerful effect on their health.
Now, Dr. Johannes Kuhl, a German cancer researcher, has shed some light on this question. He explains the powerful curative properties of fermented food. "Natural lactic acid and fermentive enzymes, which are produced during the fermentation process, have a beneficial effect on metabolism and a curative effect on illness."
Lactic acid destroys harmful intestinal bacteria and helps to improve digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Fermented foods can be considered "pre-digested foods." They are very easily digested and assimilated, even by people with weak digestive organs. Fermented foods improve intestinal hygiene and provide a healthy environment for the body's own vitamin production within the intestines. In addition, fermented foods are excellent at preventing constipation.
WARNING: I advise you NOT to use commercially produced sour pickles and sauerkraut from your supermarket. They are made with unhealthy vinegars and can not be considered natural lactic acid foods. Most commercial products have been pasteurized and do not contain live cultures because pasteurization can kill many of the beneficial bacteria, enzymes, and nutrients.
Instead, I strongly encourage you to either buy natural lactic acid fermented foods from your health food store or to make your own. If you do a little research on the internet, I'm sure you can find out how to make them yourself. Some of the best fermented foods to consider adding to your diet include: yogurt & kefir made from raw milk, sauerkraut, miso soup, natto, organic apple cider vinegar, traditional Greek olives, kimchi, aged raw cheese, kombucha, organic raw apple cider, umeboshi plums, sourdough breads, etc.

I enjoy the benefits of drinking BARLEY PURE every morning with my family. I simply add a teaspoon or two to my favorite smoothie recipe, which includes "The FEAST," a banana, some organic frozen berries, some COCONUT PURE (organic extra virgin coconut oil), some freshly ground flax seeds, and a few other things I'll share with you in the future.
I should warn you that most people can't handle the taste of drinking barley grass just with water. This is the reason that I suggest that you add it in to your favorite smoothie recipe like I do. By itself, it tastes like you're licking a lawnmower. However, added to a tasty smoothie, you hardly notice it.

3 Secrets to Optimal Health & Longevity - Keys to Good Nutrition & to Eating Healthy
"Gentlemen, I will never die of cancer! I am taking measures to prevent it. It is caused by poisons created in our bodies by the food we eat. What we should do then, if we would avoid cancer, is to eat raw fruits and vegetables. First, that we may be better nourished; secondly, that we may more easily eliminate waste products. We have been studying germs when we should have been studying diet and drainage [elimination & detoxification]. The world has been on the wrong track. The answer has been within ourselves all the time; drain the body of its poisons, feed it properly, and the miracle is done. Nobody need have cancer who will take the trouble to avoid it.”
- Sir William A. Lane, England’s foremost abdominal surgeon (addressing the staff of John Hopkins Hospital & Medical College)
The above quote speaks volumes of wisdom to us...if we will have ears to hear it.
A few days ago I was in a bookstore when I found the above incredible quote in a book by George Malkmus entitled, “Why Christians Get Sick.” When I read it, I was stunned! I couldn’t believe that someone so prestigious as Sir William Lane could articulate such a wise, simple, and natural solution to the “C-” problem. I cannot use the “C-” word in my blog because of FDA & FTC prohibitions, but the dictionary describes “C-” as - “a malignant tumor that tends to spread in the body.”
I would like to share with you 3 secrets to optimal health and longevity, which are in fact, several more keys to good nutrition and to eating healthy. These health secrets are all outlined in Sir William Lane’s quote above. I encourage you to take them to heart and apply them to your life, your diet, and your lifestyle.
The first thing you should do is to make a life decision that you are going to die healthy, and that you are not going to die of “C-”. Follow Sir Lane’s example and start taking daily measures to prevent it. Realize that you do not need to die of “C-” if you are willing to take the trouble to avoid it. So, before we get started, let me ask you: “Are you willing to take the trouble to avoid getting ‘C-’?” If you are, then the information to follow can help you live a long healthy life. If you are not willing, then this information will not help you and you may very well end up dying of “C-” because you were unwilling to take the necessary measures to prevent it.
Now, let’s address this question: “What causes ‘C-’ to develop in our bodies?”
As Sir Lane so clearly and succinctly stated, “C-” is caused by “poisons created in our bodies by the food we eat.” This statement is true and has been scientifically proven over and over again by researchers, nutritionists, and medical doctors. There is a ton of research and evidence available that supports this truth, but it is beyond the scope of this blog article to include it. If you are interested in reading such evidence, I encourage you to do your own research. Now, let’s get back to the cause of “C-” which is certain foods that we eat that create poisons in our bodies. As we continue to eat these unhealthy foods, toxins build up in our bodies that lead to malignant tumors that quickly start to spread throughout the body. The remedy to “C-” therefore must include eating the right kinds of foods, avoiding the foods that poison our bodies, and then learning how to eliminate wastes and detoxify our bodies for optimal health.
Longevity Secret # 1 - EAT RAW ORGANIC VEGETABLES and FRUIT
Think of this as a prescription from your Maker. God created the whole world and He created the human body. He knows what foods are best for you to achieve optimal health and longevity. According to the Maker’s Manual, we were designed to primarily eat vegetables and fruit, as well as grains, legumes, seeds, and nuts. Therefore, make raw organic vegetables and fruit a major part of your daily diet. They are loaded with natural vitamins, minerals, live enzymes, antioxidants, phytonutrients, and thousands of other nutritive compounds that impart life and energy to your body, as well as substances that fight illnesses, including “C-”. Make sure to eat all of your fruit RAW and approximately 75% of your vegetables RAW. Instead of wasting your money on expensive toxic drugs, think of your food from now on as your medicine. As Hippocrates so wisely stated, “Let your food be your medicine, and let your medicine be your food."
Longevity Secret # 2 - STOP EATING PROCESSED MAN-MADE FOOD POISONS
You must do something significant to stop putting poisons in your body from the food you’re used to eating. Take a few minutes and go back into some of my earlier blog postings to learn all about what “foods” to avoid in your diet. The September 2, 2007, posting is a summary of things you should never eat because they are toxic or poisonous to your body. For more details, also read Aug. 28, 29, 30, 31, and Sept. 1 postings. If you are serious about preventing “C-” from developing in your body and killing you, you absolutely must stop putting “C-causing” toxic foods into your body. Period. There is a fundamental spiritual principle in the Bible that says, “What you sow, you will reap.” If you “sow” toxic poisonous foods into your body, you will eventually “reap” malignant tumors and “C-” will start spreading through your body to kill it.
Longevity Secret # 3 - ELIMINATE WASTE PRODUCTS and DETOXIFY YOUR BODY
Sir William Lane emphasized the importance of eliminating the waste products from the body, as well as the importance of detoxifying the body. He used the word, “drainage,” to mean elimination and detoxification. In order to have proper elimination, our bodies need plenty of natural fiber from eating raw vegetables and fruits. Secondly, in order to detoxify our bodies, we need to learn which raw natural foods help with this process. We also need to learn to start doing a weekly juice fast, which is one of the best ways to help your body detoxify itself. For example, every Monday I fast and only drink natural spring water and fresh raw juices. This 24-hour period gives my body the break it needs from digestion in order to focus purely on elimination and detoxification. In this way, I’m working with my body to purge all of the toxins out of my system.

The URI International Live Whole Food Nutritional Line provides the most balanced, nutrient dense, health boosting, natural form of nutrition available through products that feed every cell and every tissue in the body with natural, earth grown nutrients that are far superior to synthetic, isolated, fragmented nutritional supplements. Their whole food nutritional products are provided to the consumer complete, just as nature intended, with the maximum quantity of original, natural nutrients, in the proper proportions. Most importantly, the valuable nutrients contained in the fresh ingredients are still alive and are very bioavailable. By providing each ingredient in its most natural and bioavailable form, all of the natural plant enzymes and phospholipids necessary for enhanced nutrient absorption and effectiveness are present.
URI International pledges to continue developing, researching, marketing, and manufacturing the most advanced, live whole food nutritional products on the market.
