8 Day Juice Fast Extremely Successful & Rewarding!
I have just completed an 8-day juice fast and I feel absolutely fantastic! I'd like to share with you how my fast went and what was accomplished.
My main reasons for doing this fast were to clean out my colon, detoxify my body, give my body a chance to rest and rebuild itself, rejuvenation, a marriage breakthrough, and a spiritual breakthrough. I know, that's a lot of purposes to have when going on a juice fast, but these were the needs in my life that needed a breakthrough.
"The single most powerful tool I have seen for optimum health and rejuvenation is the JUICE FAST!" - Dr. Otto Burchinger, M.D.
We all need to come to the realization and experience that regular, periodic juice fasting is one of the essential keys to good nutrition and to eating healthy.
I'd like to share the details of my current juice fast with you to show you what's it's like and what you need to remember to do in order to be successful in your juice fasting.
My last meal was a healthy dinner on Saturday, January 26th.
Day 1 - Sunday, Jan. 27 - 175 pounds. Drank juices & water. Morning & evening enemas.
Day 2 - Monday, Jan. 28 - 173 pounds. Drank juices & water, with morning & evening enemas.
Day 3 - Tues, Jan 29 - 170 pounds. Drank juices & water, with morning & evening enemas.
Day 4 - Wed, Jan 30 - 168 pounds. Drank juices & water. Morning & evening enemas.
Day 5 - Thurs, Jan 31 - 168 pounds. Same as above...
Day 6 - Frid, Feb 1 - 167 pounds. Same as above...
Day 7 - Sat. Feb 2 - 165 pounds. Drank juices & water. Only morning enema.
Day 8 - Sun. Feb 3 - 163 pounds. Drank juices & water. Only morning enema.
Broke the fast Sunday evening at 5:30 pm with a raw apple and some cinnamon.
I was able to work a full 50 hour work week without any problem. I had plenty of energy and my mind was very clear. On the 7th day, I actually helped my sister-in-law move all day, which included a lot of heavy lifting. Surprisingly, I had plenty of energy to do it without any problem.
With all the enemas I did, my body was able to detoxify and cleanse itself of a lot of putrid crud that had been built up in my colon over the last several years. At times it was scary to see how much awful stuff I had stuck up in me that only came out as a direct result of the juice fast, the colon cleansing herbs and ingredients that I took, and the two daily enemas.
On day 5, I had the most disgusting crud come out of me, and it reminded me exactly of some photos I had seen on some colon cleansing websites of long putrid crud that other people have been able to purge their bodies of through juice fasting and colon cleansing. So...I, too, took a picture of it to remind myself of the power of a juice fast to cleanse the colon. If you're squeamish, don't look at the photo. For those of you who get grossed out easily, I'll post the photo at the bottom of the email so that you don't have to see it.
By day 8, my morning enema revealed no more solid poop in me, so I felt like it was time to end the fast. I'm still amazed at how much horrid stuff came out of me through 8 days of juice fasting and taking enemas twice a day. It's rather shocking and disgusting!
By the time I broke the fast tonight at the end of the 8th day, I had lost 12 pounds! I look a whole lot thinner and my friends and family have commented on it. More importantly, I feel a whole lot cleaner and healthier, my body feels like it experienced quite a bit of detoxification, I feel rejuvenated and energetic, I experienced a breakthrough in my marriage, and I feel like I've had a real spiritual breakthrough.
Was it worth it? Oh YES!
Was it hard? Not really. It was actually a lot easier than I expected, and it was a whole lot easier than doing a water only fast. After about the 6th day, I did start missing food when I was around it, and everything in my wife's kitchen looked and smelled great.
Will I do it again? YES, of course! I'll continue fasting one day a week for general upkeep of my colon, but I'll also plan on doing an extended juice fast at least two or three times a year.
I strongly recommend that you get yourself a good enema kit, some of Uri International's live whole food based InstaFresh juice powder mixes, and plan your first juice fast some time in the next three weeks.
Remember these important parts of JUICE FASTING:
1. Drink only fresh homemade juices, spring water, homemade vegetable broth, and any combination of the live whole food based InstaFresh super juice powdered drink mixes by Uri such as The Feast, Beyond Berries, Barley Pure, Sweet Careet, etc.
I drank a smoothie every morning made from the following ingredients: 2 scoops of The Feast & 1 scoop of Barley Pure by Uri, half a raw lemon, cayenne pepper, 2 teaspoons of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, Himalayan salt water, 2 tablespoons freshly ground flaxseed, 1 scoop of Multi Clean Colon Support by Uri, 1 scoop of psyllium husk seeds, 1 tablespoon of raw honey. In the afternoon and in the evening, I've been drinking a serving of the live whole food based InstaFresh super juice powdered drink, the Feast and Beyond Berries, by Uri.
2. Add some kind of colon cleaning support to your drinks once a day. In my case, I used "Multi Clean Colon Support" by Uri International. I also added two droppers of Fresh Green Black Walnut Wormwood Complex to my morning and evening smoothies.
3. Do a morning and evening enema with lukewarm water. You can find directions on how to do this on my blog. This is a critical step to make sure you do because it helps to get the old feces and toxic material out of your colon while you're on your fast. You'll need a simple $15 enema kit to do this yourself.
4. Do a morning and evening dry brush massage. This is simply a rough brush that you brush all over your body to rub off dead skin and to help remove the toxins that are being expelled through your skin. A dry brush massage is quite an invigorating experience and very healthy for you.
5. Do some kind of moderate daily exercise such as walking for 30-60 minutes. I strongly encourage you to go for a long walk in the morning and again in the late afternoon or early evening.
6. Stay away from the kitchen unless you're preparing your smoothie or juice or vegetable broth. You don't want to hang around food or people eating food which may prove to be a temptation.
7. Get plenty of rest every night and try to go to bed early.
8. Keep doing your normal work routine, and you'll be surprised that you'll have a lot of energy as your fast progresses.

It's Time for Juice Fasting - Keys to Good Nutrition & Tips to Eating Healthy Feast Uri Yuri
"The single most powerful tool I have seen for optimum health and rejuvenation is the JUICE FAST!" - Dr. Otto Burchinger, M.D.
After completing my 12-Part series on Juice Fasting a few weeks ago, I was very motivated and ready to go on an extended juice fast myself. Normally I fast once a week on Mondays to give my system a rest. However, several times a year I like to go on an extended juice fast. Periodic juice fasting is one of the essential keys to good nutrition and to eating healthy.
I'd like to share the details of my current juice fast with you to show you what's it's like and what you need to remember to do in order to be successful in your juice fasting.
My last meal was a healthy dinner on Saturday, January 26th.

Day 2 - Monday, Jan. 28 - 173 pounds. Drank juices & water, with morning & evening enemas.
Day 3 - Tues, Jan 29 - 170 pounds. Drank juices & water, with morning & evening enemas.
Day 4 - Wed, Jan 30 - 168 pounds. Drank juices & water. Morning & evening enemas.
Here are the things that I have been doing every day that you'll want to do when you juice fast:
1. Drink only fresh homemade juices, water, homemade vegetable broth, and any combination of the live whole food based InstaFresh super juice powdered drink mixes by Uri such as The Feast, Beyond Berries, Barley Pure, Sweet Careet, etc.
I have actually been drinking a smoothie every morning made from the following ingredients: 2 scoops of The Feast & 1 scoop of Barley Pure by Uri, half a raw lemon, cayenne pepper, 2 teaspoons of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, Himalayan salt water, 2 tablespoons freshly ground flaxseed, 1 scoop of Multi Clean Colon Support by Uri, 1 scoop of psyllium husk seeds, 1 tablespoon of raw honey. 8. Keep doing your normal work routine, and you'll be surprised that you'll have a lot of energy as your fast progresses.
SO FAR...this has been a very easy fast for me to do. I haven't had any problems so far. I've felt plenty of energy and take walks whenever I can. I have had good sleep as well. My body feels like it is getting thinner, healthier, and more energetic. I'm working full 8-10 hour days with no problems whatsoever. My thinking is clearer than ever, and my spirit is spiritually in tune with God and hearing His voice. I'm not sure how long I will continue this juice fast, but for now, I feel like I could go on indefinitely...

Juice Fasting Pt 12 - Keys to Good Nutrition and to Eating Healthy with Uri Feast Yuri

A FEW MORE FAMOUS QUOTES
ON JUICE FASTING
I'd like to share with you a few more quotes on fasting that will inspire and motivate you to get started with the joy of juice fasting.
These quotes were gleaned from a great website that I would also like to recommend you visit.
http://www.fasting.com/
"Every patient carries her or his own doctor inside."--Albert Schweitzer, M.D., 1875-1965, Alsatian medical missionary, theologian and musician
"Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. Our food should be our medicine. Our medicine should be our food. But to eat when you are sick, is to feed your sickness."--Hippocrates, M.D., 460-377 B.C., Father of Western Medicine
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease."--Thomas Edison, 1847-1931, America's greatest inventive mind (patented 1093: light bulb, phonograph, microphone, carbon telephone transmitter, motion-picture camera, et. al.)
"Fasting and natural diet, though essentially unknown [in today's U.S.] as a therapy, should be the first treatment when someone discovers that she or he has a medical problem. It should not be applied only to the most advanced cases, as is present practice. Whether the patient has a cardiac condition, hypertension, autoimmune disease, fibroids, or asthma, he or she must be informed that fasting and natural, plant-based diets are a viable alternative to conventional therapy, and an effective one. The time may come when not offering this substantially more effective nutritional approach will be considered malpractice."--Joel Fuhrman, M.D., from his book, Fasting And Eating For Health: A Medical Doctor's Program for Conquering Disease
"A wise person should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings." --Hippocrates, 400 years before Christ; famed Greek physician and Father of Western Medicine
"Fasting is the greatest remedy--the physician within!"--Philippus Paracelsus, nearly 500 years ago; famed Swiss physician, considered one of three fathers of Western Medicine, along with Greece's Hippocrates and Galen

Juice Fasting Pt 11 - Keys to Good Nutrition & Eating Healthy with Uri Feast Yuri
I'd like to share with you some of the benefits of fasting as described by Patricia and Paul Bragg in their book, "Bragg Miracle of Fasting Book." Keep in mind that juice fasting, or what I like to call "juice feasting," is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body. Your digestion system and elmination system will be given a rest and time to cleanse themselves, detoxify themselves, and rejuvenate themselves. I personally recommend using the Feast (live whole food based InstaFresh super juice) throughout your juice fasting. For more details see below.

Fasting is not starving; it's nature's cure that God has given us."
- Quotation by Allan Cott, M.D.
Don't be a Slave to Foods
"Most humans are slaves to foods; they must have breakfast, lunch and dinner at regular meal hours every day, year in and year out. They eat whether they are hungry or not, and their poor bodies are burdened by overeating . . . and usually poor nutrition as well! No wonder we have so many physical wrecks! One of the greatest nutritional teachers in the world, Professor Arnold Ehret, said, 'Life is a tragedy of nutrition.' How true is the old trite saying, 'Man digs his grave with his knife and fork!' Many people never give their stomachs a rest. They continually stuff and work the digestive and eliminative functions with an overabundance of food. This excessive burden means that the functions of digestion and elimination become so overworked and so exhausted that they simply collapse. The entire body then becomes enervated! Millions suffer from fatigue. Old age is not a time of life. It is a condition of the body. It is not time that ages the body, it is abuse that does." – Herbert Shelton

Juice Fasting Pt 9 - Keys to Good Nutrition and Eating Healthy with Uri Feast
HOW TO BREAK OR END A JUICE FAST
I'd like to share some juice fasting tips today on how to break your fast as I near the end of this series on juice fasting.
Breaking a juice fast is the most important phase of the whole fast because the beneficial effects of juice fasting can be totally undone if you break it incorrectly and unwisely.
"Even a fool can fast, but only a wise man knows how to break the fast properly and to build up properly after the fast!" - Dr. Otto F.H. Buchinger
Tip # 1 - DO NOT OVEREAT!
After disciplining yourself to fast, don't blow it by overeating the moment your fast ends. This is the first and most important rule regarding fasting, and it also happens to be the first and most important rule of healthy eating and longevity.
Tip # 2 - CHEW YOUR FOOD VERY WELL AND EAT SLOWLY
You'd be surprise to find out how many people eat their food in a hurry and don't really chew their food well enough. Chewing is a very important step in the digestion process, and if you skip it, you put an added strain on your stomach and digestive system. Chewing your food extremely well is all the more critical when you break your fast. Your stomach needs all the help it can get from you as it adjusts to food again, and the best way that you can help it is by eating slowly and chewing your food thoroughly for digestion purposes.
Tip # 3 - GRADUALLY TRANSITION TO A NORMAL DIET OVER SEVERAL DAYS
According to Dr. Paavo Airola, "In order to benefit from fasting to the greatest possible extent, it is of paramount importance that after fasting a build-up diet of vital natural foods be maintained....Such a diet will supply the healing and regenerative forces of your body with all the needed elements, so that the cleansing, regenerative, rejuvenative, and healing processes initiated by the body during fasting can be continued."
Make sure that your build-up diet is made up of organic natural live whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, greens, raw or sprouted whole grains, seeds, and nuts.
Here is a suggested eating schedule after breaking a juice fast.
Day One - Eat a whole apple in the morning (slowly), a very small bowl of raw vegetable salad for lunch, and continue to drink your usual vegetable broth and fruit and vegetable juices.
Day Two - Soaked figs or prunes, with the soaking water, for breakfast; a small bowl of raw vegetable salad for lunch; vegetable soup for dinner (made without salt); two apples can be eaten between meals; and continue to drink your usual juices and broth.
Day Three - Same as Day two, but add a few raw nuts and a small glass of yogurt for breakfast. Increase the size of your salad for lunch, and add a boiled or baked potato. In the evening, have fresh soup with a slice of whole-grain bread with butter and cheese.
Day Four - Start eating normally, but try to stick to a very healthy whole food diet, avoiding processed foods and sugars.
* If your juice fast lasted more than 10 days, the break-in period should be extended one day for every 4 days of fasting. For example, if you fasted for 14 days, then your break-in period should be four days instead of three.

Juice Fasting Pt 8 - Keys to Good Nutrition with Uri Feast & Tips to Eating Healthy
MAKE YOUR OWN JUICE FASTING VEGETABLE BROTH
In all biological clinics in Europe, vegetable broth is a standard beverage during juice fasting. All fasting patients drink a large glass of healthy vegetable broth every morning and every evening before going to sleep.
What's so great about vegetable broth?
Vegetable broth is an alkalizing and cleansing beverage that supplies a lot of minerals and vitamins, which are so important establishing and normalizing a proper chemical balance in the tissues during juice fasting. Vegetable broth is especially rich in the mineral potassium, which is of very useful and effective in the treating of various illness such as arthritis.
VEGETABLE BROTH RECIPE
2 large potatoes, unpeeled, chopped, or sliced to one half inch pieces
1 cup beets, sliced or shredded
1 cup carrots, sliced or shredded
1 cup celery, with leaves, chopped to one half inch pieces
Optional: 1 cup any other available vegetables (turnips, turnip tops, beet tops, parsley, cabbage, or a little bit of everything on hand and in season)
Cook vegetables in an earthenware, enameled, or stainless steel pot.
Fill up the pot with ONE AND A HALF QUARTS OF WATER and slice the vegetables straight into the water to prevent them from oxidizing.
Cover and cook the vegetables slowly for at least half an hour.
Then let them stand for another half hour, strain out the vegetables, cool until warm, and then serve.
If you don't use the vegetable broth immediately, store in refrigerator. Remember to warm it up before serving it again.

Juice Fasting Pt 7 - Keys to Good Nutrition and Tips to Eating Healthy with Uri Feast
What to DRINK during your Juice Fast
JUICES
The best kind of juice to drink during your juice fast is fresh, live home-made juice. If you have a juicer, you can make your own fresh juice just before drinking it. Do NOT drink pasteurized, processed, preserved bottled or canned juices that are found in the supermarket. These juices are dead, are often loaded with sugar and high fructose corn syrup, and are very unhealthy for you. Do NOT drink these because they are dead juices.
There are several good books out there that have recipes for juicing and juice fasting.
Drink juices made from fresh fruits, berries, greens, and vegetables.
The fruit juices most frequently used during juice fasts are: apple, orange, grapefruit, lemon, grapes, pineapple, and pear.
Here are some recommended vegetable juices: carrot, beets, celery, cabbage, as well as green juice (chlorophyll drink) made from green leaves of alfalfa, wheat grass, comfrey, carrot tops, beet tops, and/or other available edible greens.
If you don't have a juicer, you can do what I do, which is to mix up a large glass of The Feast, by Uri International. The Feast is a live whole food based InstaFresh super juice powdered mix that has over 30 fresh fruits and berries and 30 fresh greens and vegetables in it. It is not pasteurized and has no sugar or artificial sweeteners in it. It is a very convenient way to drink your fresh live whole food fruits, berries, greens, and vegetables during your juice fast. At the bottom of this posting is a link for more information about the Feast and how you can order some.
It is usually best to dilute your fresh fruit and vegetable juices with water about 50%-50%.
NATURAL SPRING WATER
In my next posting I'll teach you how to make a VEGETABLE BROTH, which is another thing you can drink while doing a juice fast.

Juice Fasting Pt 6 - Keys to Good Nutrition and Tips to Eating Healthy with Uri Feast
First, you'll have to go to a drug store to buy a simple enema kit (enema bag with a rubber hose and a nozzle).
Second, fill the enema bag with lukewarm water (about 100 degrees F). You'll need 1 pint to 1 quart of water.
Third, the best position for taking an enema is on your knees, head down to the floor, with the enema bag hanging 2-3 feet above the rectum, in order to get sufficient water flow pressure. You can regulate the flow of the water by using the clamp on the tube. Before inserting the nozzle, lubricate the nozzle with some olive oil or vaseline to make insertion easier. Also, let a little water out first to remove any air bubbles. If you feel discomfort, slow down the water flow or stop it for a moment and take some deep breaths, and then continue again until the bag is empty and all the water is in you.
Fourth, try to retain the water for a while before emptying your bowels. Lie first on your back for a minute, then on your right side, then on your stomach, and then on your left side. While doing all of this, gently massage your stomach with your hands. Then get up and empty your bowels into the toilet. Stay long enough to make sure your bowels are empty.
Additional points to keep in mind...
Keep the equipment clean by washing it with soap and hot water.
You can give yourself an enema once or twice a day. The best time is first thing in the morning, and if you do it twice, then also in the evening before going to sleep.
You can do this at home by yourself. However, if at all possible, have your fasting supervised by someone who is well initiated in it. Under experienced supervision, a juice fast could be undertaken at home for up to 30 days, if necessary. If you are ill, you should consult your doctor on advisability of fasting in your case. I would not advise fasting longer than one week to ten days at a time while doing this by yourself at home.
In future postings, I will discuss what kinds of juices to drink and give you a recipe for home-made vegetable broth. I will also share more tips on juice fasting, as well as how to properly end a juice fast.

Juice Fasting Pt 5 - Keys to Good Nutrition & Tips to Eating Healthy with Uri Feast
SHOULD YOU USE AN ENEMA WHILE JUICE FASTING?
There is a lot of controversy in America about the use of enemas while fasting. There are some doctors and clinics in America that condemn the use of enemas completely while fasting. They insist that enemas are unnatural, unnecessary, habit-forming, and harmful.
On the other hand, virtually all European fasting authorities agree that using enemas while fasting is beneficial and advisable. They do warn against the regular use of enemas and colonics when not fasting because it is habit-forming. However, the exceptions to this general rule include times of fasting, treating of acute constipation, and treating acute infectious illnesses when the patient is bedridden for long periods and their bowel movements become sluggish.
According to Dr. Paavo Airola, "During fasting, the natural stimulation of the defecation-reflex from food is missing and therefore all the impurities, wastes, and toxins will remain in the body and may cause auto-toxemia, or self-poisoning. The main purpose of fasting is to help the body to cleanse itself from accumulated toxic wastes. By the process of autolysis, a huge amount of morbid matter, dead cells, and diseased tissues are burned; and the toxic wastes which have accumulated in the tissues for years, causing disease and premature aging, are loosened and expelled from the system. The alimentary canal, the digestive and eliminative system, is the main road by which these toxins are thrown out of the body. Since, during fasting, the natural bowel movements cease to take place, the toxic wastes would have no way of leaving the system, except with the help of enemas."
It is for the above mentioned reasons that virtually all biological doctors in Europe administer enemas to all fasting patients (once, twice, or even three times daily). During both juice fasting and water fasting, using an enema will assist the body in its cleansing and detoxifying effort by washing out all the toxic wastes from the alimentary canal.
One of the most common and harmful ailments of modern civilized man is CONSTIPATION. The digestive tract, especially in the colon and lower bowels, becomes stagnant and slack with hardened residues clinging to the walls of the colon and filling its many folds and pockets as a result of long-term constipation.
One of the most common complaints of people over 50 is a condition called "Diverticulitis," which is a chronic condition whereby small pockets of the colon are packed with feces. Often what happens is that the complete length of the colon is packed with hardened old fecal matter, cemented to the wall and pouches, leaving only a thin, narrow channel for soft feces to pass through. It would be unwise for a person to fast without making an effort to cleanse their body of these toxic tissues which are a constant source of auto-intoxication or self-poisoning. In addition, if these toxins are not eliminated through the alimentary canal, the body will try to get rid of them through other eliminative organs such as the kidneys. As a result, these toxins can overload the kidneys and even damage them.
According to Dr. Airola, here is what the European fasting specialists advise for their fasting patients.
1. All of their fasting patients are given DAILY ENEMAS, in addition to WEEKLY COLONIC IRRIGATIONS.
2. To assist the body even further in its detoxification and elimination processes, fasting patients are given DRY BRUSH MASSAGE twice a day. This is very important because it stimulates the eliminative capacity of the skin, which is the biggest eliminative organ of the body.
3. And finally, all fasting patients are advised to WALK and EXERCISE in FRESH AIR as often as possible to help the lungs in their blood-purification work.

Juice Fasting Pt 4 - Keys to Good Nutrition & Tips to Eating Healthy with Uri Feast
WHICH IS BETTER?
In seeking to answer this question, let's begin by referring to some of the world's best fasting authorities.
WHAT THE WORLD'S FASTING AUTHORITIES SAY
Dr. Otto H.F. Buchinger, who has probably supervised more fasts than any other doctor in the world, approximately 80,000+ fasts, uses only juice fasting. In his vast experience, he found that fasting on RAW fruit and vegetable juices, plus vegetable broths and herb teas, resulted in much quicker recovery from illness and more effective cleansing and rejuvenation of the cells and tissues, as compared with traditional water fasting.
Dr. Paavo Airola, who supervised both types of fasting, was thoroughly convinced that juice fasting was far superior to water fasting. He stated that although American practitioners and clinics generally specialize in the antiquated water fast method, that practically all European clinics now use juice fasting exclusively.
Dr. Ragnar Berg, perhaps the world's greatest authority on nutrition and biochemisty, said the following about the superiority of juice fasting over water fasting:
"During fasting the body burns up and excretes huge amounts of accumulated wastes. We can help this cleansing process by drinking alkaline juices instead of water while fasting. I have supervised many fasts and made extensive tests of fasting patients, and I am convinced that drinking alkaline-forming fruit and vegetable juices, instead of water, during fasting will increase the healing effect of fasting. Elimination of uric acid and other inorganic acids will be accelerated. And sugars in juices will strengthen the heart....Juice fasting is therefore the best form of fasting."
8 REASONS WHY JUICE FASTING IS BETTER than Water Fasting
Raw juice fasting is best when you are fasting for cleansing, regeneration, and rejuvenation purposes. Juice fasting will help to revitalize your active cells, will help to break down and dispose of your aging and dying cells, and will help to accelerate the new building of vital cells. The following physiological facts provide the medical justification for the superiority of juice fasting as opposed to water fasting.
1. Raw fruit and vegetable juices and freshly made vegetable broths are rich in enzymes, minerals, vitamins, and trace elements.
2. These vital nutrients are easily assimilated directly into the bloodstream, without straining the digestive system. In this way they do not disrupt or block the healing and rejuvenating process of self-digestion, or autolysis, as suggested by some water fast supporters.
3. These vital nutrients are extremely beneficial in normalizing all of the body's processes, supplying needed elements for the body's healing activity and cell regeneration, thereby speeding up recovery.
4. Vegetable broths and raw juices provide an alkaline surplus, which is vitally important for the proper acid-alkaline balance in the tissues and blood, since blood and tissues contain large amounts of acids during fasting.
5. Raw juices, and particularly fresh vegetable broth, provides generous amounts of minerals which help to restore the mineral and biochemical balance in the cells and tissues. This is important because mineral imbalance in the cells is one of the main causes of diminished oxygenation, which leads to the premature aging of cells and to illness.
6. According to Dr. Ralph Bircher, raw juices contain a factor which stimulates what he calls a micro-electric tension in the body, which is responsible for the cell's ability to absorb nutrients from the bloodstream and efficiently expel metabolic wastes.
7. Contrary to what some people believe, raw fruit and vegetable juices and vegetable broth do NOT stimulate the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which can produce ulcers. It is mainly when protein-rich foods are consumed that hydrochloric acid is secreted.
8. Juice fasting also enables most people to continue with their normal work. Of course, there are exceptions such as jobs that require a high level of concentration. However, for most people, the energy in the raw juices and fresh vegetable broth makes it possible for them to continue working and fulfilling their family responsibilities. This is not necessarily the case with water only fasting.
In conclusion, juice fasting is far superior to water fasting.

Juice Fasting Pt 3 - Keys to Good Nutrition and Tips to Eating Healthy with Uri Feast
HOW LONG
CAN YOU FAST
OR
SHOULD YOU FAST?
The answer to this question depends upon the purpose of your fast.
If you are fasting for the purpose of protecting and defending your body against illness and preventing physical health problems, 7-10 days of fasting will be sufficient. In other words, if you are fasting in order to cleanse, regenerate, and rejuvenate your body (known as prophylactic purposes), then a fast lasting for a week to ten days would be enough. Short fasts such as this can be taken once or twice a year. If you have a proper mental attitude, confidence and understanding of the philosophy and physiology of fasting, you can safely fast on your own for up to ten days. However, if you feel unsure of yourself, you may consult a doctor or fasting practitioner for assistance.
On the other hand, if you are planning a "therapeutic fast" for the purpose of healing, then the length of the fast should be determined by the doctor or practitioner who supervises the fast. Generally, therapeutic fasts vary between 7 days and 40 days. The most common duration of fasts in European clinics is 14 to 21 days. It is not advisable to undertake a do-it-yourself fast for longer than a week or ten days.
Finally, if you are fasting for spiritual reasons, the length of your fast is between you and God. In the Bible, you can find fasts that last anywhere from one day, to three days, to seven days, to 21 days, to 40 days. The people in the Bible who are most known for fasting include Jesus, Moses, Daniel, Esther, David, Elijah, Paul, and many others. These people found tremendous spiritual benefits from fasting and are an example to me.
Fasting is a great habit to develop and one that you may consider establishing as you start the upcoming new year. I personally practice and recommend fasting one day a week (consistently on the same day) and fasting for cleansing, regenerating, and rejuvenating purposes twice a year.
And always remember, fasting and juice fasting are keys to good nutrition and eating healthy with the Uri Feast.

Juice Fasting Pt 2 - Keys to Good Nutrition and Tips to Eating Healthy with Uri Feast
MORE ON THE AMAZING HEALTH BENEFITS OF FASTING
A few days ago, I wrote Part I of this short series on juice fasting and juice feasting. Today I'd like to continue discussing this topic by saying a few more things about FASTING itself.
I believe that juice fasting and juice feasting are keys to good nutrition and tips to eating healthy with the Uri Feast.
The primary causes of physical health problems and aging are found in the processes of cell metabolism and cell regeneration.
According to Hans Selye, the famous Canadian stress doctor and author of The Stress of Life, "Life, the biological chain that holds our parts together, is only as strong as its weakest vital link." In other words, you are as young or as old as your smallest vital links, which are your CELLS. Yes, it's true: YOU ARE AS YOUNG OR AS OLD AS YOUR CELLS!
AGING takes place when your normal process of cell regeneration and rebuilding slows down, which is caused primarily by the accumulation of waste products in the tissues which interferes with the nourishment of your cells. Each of your cells is a complete living entity with its own metabolism, and each of your cells needs a continuous supply of oxygen and sufficient nutritive substances for nourishment.
Dr. Paavo Airola, world-famous nutritionist and naturopathic doctor, states, "When due to nutritional deficiencies, sluggish metabolism, sedentary life, overeating and consequent poor digestion and assimilation of food, lack of fresh air and sufficient exercise and rest, our cells are deprived of the nourishment they need, they start to degenerate and break down, the normal process of cell replacement and rebuilding slows down and your body starts to grow old, its resistance to diseases will diminish and various ills will start to appear. This may happen at any age. Sluggish metabolism, constipation, and consequent inefficient elimination causes retention and accumulation of toxic wastes in the tissues which interfere with the nourishment of the cells, causing disease and premature aging."
At any specific time, only about half of your CELLS are in the peak of development, vitality, and in good working condition. One fourth are usually in the process of dying and being replaced, while the other fourth are in the process of development and growth. The healthy vital life-processes and youth are only maintained when there is perfect balance in this process of cell break-down and replacement. If the CELLS are breaking down and dying faster than the new cells are being built, then the process of AGING begins to set in. It is very important that the aging and dying cells are decomposed and eliminated from the system in an efficient manner because fast and efficient elimination of dead cells stimulates the building and growth of NEW CELLS.
HERE'S WHERE FASTING COMES IN AS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO RESTORE YOUR HEALTH AND REJUVENATE YOUR BODY.
During a FAST, the process of eliminating dying and dead cells is accelerated, and the building of new cells is stimulated and speeded up. According to Dr. Airola, "At the same time the toxic waste products that interfere with the nourishment of the cells are effectively eliminated and the normal metabolic rate and cell oxygenation are restored."
HOW AND WHY FASTING CAN ACCOMPLISH SUCH AMAZING RESULTS
First, after the first three days of a prolonged fast, your body will start to live on its own substance. In other words, when your body is deprived of food, it will burn and digest its own tissues (cells) by the process of "autolysis" or self-digestion. However, your body will not do this indiscriminately. In its God-given wisdom, your body will first decompose and burn those cells and tissues which are diseased, damaged, aging, or dead. When you fast, your body will naturally feed itself first on the most impure and inferior materials, such as dead cells and morbid accumulations, abscesses, tumors, fat deposits, damaged tissues, etc. These dead and inferior cells and tissues are utilized and consumed first, while the vital organs and essential tissues, the glands, the brain, and the nervous system, are spared. It is for this reason that Dr. Buchinger Sr., one of the greatest fasting authorities, refers to fasting as "a burning of rubbish," and a "refuse disposal." In summary, this self-digestion is the hidden secret to the extraordinary effectiveness of fasting as a health-restoring and rejuvenating therapy!
Second, during the process of fasting, not only are the old and diseased cells and tissues decomposed and burned up, but the building of healthy NEW CELLS is stimulated and accelerated. This may seem impossible since no food or only a limited amount of nourishment in the case of a juice fast, is supplied; however, this is a physiological fact. During a fast, the proteins needed for new cell building are resynthesized from the decomposed cells. In this way the body is able to use and re-use the same proteins and other nutrients over and over where they are needed.
Third, during a fast, the cleansing and eliminative capacity of the eliminative organs (the lungs, liver, kidney, and skin) is greatly increased, resulting in the quick expelling of masses of accumulated metabolic toxins and wastes. This is due to the fact that the eliminative organs are relieved from the normal task of digesting food and eliminating wastes, and therefore they can concentrate on cleansing the body's tissues of accumulated toxins and wastes. This process of elimination is evidenced by typical fasting symptoms such as offensive breath, dark urine, skin eruptions, perspiration, continuous and generous discharge from the colon with enema, catarrhal elimination of mucus, etc.
Fourth, during a fast, the digestive, assimilative, and protective organs of the body experience a physiological REST. After fasting, food digestion and nutrient absorption is greatly improved, and sluggishness and further waste retention is prevented. In this whole process of fasting and cleansing, the body's rejuvenated cells are supplied with oxygen and nutrients more efficiently.
Lastly, the process of fasting exerts a normalizing, stabilizing, and rejuvenating effect on all the vital mental, nervous, and physiological functions of the body. Glandular chemistry and hormonal secretions are stimulated, the nervous system is rejuvenated, biochemical and mineral balance in the cells is normalized, and mental powers are improved.
As a final note, I'd like to share the fact that I practice fasting once a week for health reasons, as well as for spiritual reasons. It's a great habit to develop and one that you may consider establishing as you start the upcoming new year. And always remember, fasting and juice fasting are keys to good nutrition and eating healthy with the Uri Feast.
