HOW TO TAKE AN ENEMA WHILE JUICE FASTING
First, you'll have to go to a drug store to buy a simple enema kit (enema bag with a rubber hose and a nozzle).
Second, fill the enema bag with lukewarm water (about 100 degrees F). You'll need 1 pint to 1 quart of water.
Third, the best position for taking an enema is on your knees, head down to the floor, with the enema bag hanging 2-3 feet above the rectum, in order to get sufficient water flow pressure. You can regulate the flow of the water by using the clamp on the tube. Before inserting the nozzle, lubricate the nozzle with some olive oil or vaseline to make insertion easier. Also, let a little water out first to remove any air bubbles. If you feel discomfort, slow down the water flow or stop it for a moment and take some deep breaths, and then continue again until the bag is empty and all the water is in you.
Fourth, try to retain the water for a while before emptying your bowels. Lie first on your back for a minute, then on your right side, then on your stomach, and then on your left side. While doing all of this, gently massage your stomach with your hands. Then get up and empty your bowels into the toilet. Stay long enough to make sure your bowels are empty.
Additional points to keep in mind...
Keep the equipment clean by washing it with soap and hot water.
You can give yourself an enema once or twice a day. The best time is first thing in the morning, and if you do it twice, then also in the evening before going to sleep.
You can do this at home by yourself. However, if at all possible, have your fasting supervised by someone who is well initiated in it. Under experienced supervision, a juice fast could be undertaken at home for up to 30 days, if necessary. If you are ill, you should consult your doctor on advisability of fasting in your case. I would not advise fasting longer than one week to ten days at a time while doing this by yourself at home.
In future postings, I will discuss what kinds of juices to drink and give you a recipe for home-made vegetable broth. I will also share more tips on juice fasting, as well as how to properly end a juice fast.
