This is a reprint of an article I wrote in September of 2007. It was the second highest ranked article on this blog site based on the second most views by my readers.
"If it wasn't a food 100 years ago, it's a man-made product."
I'd like to give you a standard by which you can measure all food products to know if they are healthy or not. Use these keys to good nutrition and tips to eating healthy when you're out food shopping or eating in a restaurant. Simply ask yourself these two questions:
Question #1 - "Was this a food 100 years ago?"
Question #2 - "Is this a God-made food or a man-made product?"
If the food product you are considering eating or drinking WAS a food 100 years ago, then it is most probably a whole food and healthy for you. In other words, it is probably a GOD-MADE FOOD that was designed by God to meet the nutritional needs of your body. Therefore, it is a good whole food and should be eaten and enjoyed.
However, if you're considering a food product that WAS NOT a food 100 years ago, then it is most definitely a MAN-MADE PRODUCT and is NOT healthy for your body. Don't eat it or drink it! It is simply not good for your health and will put a toxic stress on your organs.
Let's look at a couple of examples and see if this measuring rod holds true.
1. An Organic Apple - This was a food 100 years ago, and it is a God-made food that is healthy to eat today.
2. High Fructose Corn Sweetener - This was not a food 100 years ago, and it is a man-made product that is NOT healthy to eat. Unfortunately, man (food manufacturers) has found a way to put this unhealthy man-made toxic sweetener in most of the products in the supermarket, often without the consumer even knowing it's there, and usually without the consumer knowing how dangerously unhealthy it is for his health.
3. An Organic Carrot - This was a food 100 years ago, and it is a God-made food that provides good nutrition to your body.
4. Hydrogenated Oils (Trans Fats) - This was not a food 100 years ago, and it is a man-made product that is very UN-healthy for your body. Unfortunately, this toxic form of oil is found in many man-made food products in the supermarket and in restaurants.
5. Artificial Sweeteners - These are obviously man-made products and were NOT a food 100 years ago. They are extremely toxic to your body and cause all kinds of terrible physical health problems. Therefore, never use Aspartame, NutraSweet, Splenda, and Saacharin.
6. MSG (monosodium glutamate) - This was not a food 100 years ago, and it is a man-made food additive that is very UN-healthy for your body. Unfortunately, food manufacturers and restaurant owners have found hundreds of ways to sneak it into their man-made food products without the consumer even knowing it's there. Avoid this excito-toxin at all costs.
7. Organic 100% Whole Wheat Flour - This was a food 100 years ago, and it still is because it was made by God. This is the only kind of wheat flour to bake with and eat.
8. "Enriched" Wheat Flour - This was NOT a food 100 years ago, and it is a man-made product that is very UN-healthy for your body. Most of the good nutrition has been bleached out and stripped out, with a few synthetic vitamins and minerals added back in that your body cannot even use. Unfortunately, this is the most common kind of flour that food manufacturers put into their hundreds of baked goods. Another danger with eating this man-made product is that it is most probably a genetically modified (GM) product that is very UN-healthy for you.
I could go on and on with a ton of examples, but I hope you see my point. Most foods fit into one of these two categories: God-made foods and man-made foods. Most food products can be classified into one of these categories, which will help you choose what to eat and what to avoid.
There are a few things that do not easily fit into these two categories, and if you ask if they were a food 100 years ago, some people might say "Yes," while others would say "No." These are special cases that you need to look deeper at in order to make a wise decision. For example, what about pork products and shellfish?
The truth is that God did not create pigs and shellfish to be eaten by man. They are God-made creatures, but they are NOT God-made foods. Let me explain.
God created certain creatures to be scavengers on the earth and to eat nasty things like the decomposing flesh of other animals. Pigs, shrimp, lobsters, crabs, clams, scallops, and vultures are all scavengers that God designed to eat rubbish and garbage and other scum on the ground and ocean seafloor. When you study the dietary restrictions that God gave His people in the Bible, you will find all of these scavengers prohibited for health reasons. When man does not abide by these dietary restrictions that God set up for our good, he starts consuming a whole host of toxins that accumulate in his body and eventually lead to all kinds of terrible physical health problems and illnesses. If you don't believe me, ask any marine biologist about the levels of mercury and other poisons found in clams and scallops. In summary, certain creatures that God made were strictly forbidden to be eaten because God did not make them to be food for mankind. Pigs, shellfish, birds of prey, and the like are not to be eaten by man, and if they are, they will cause him to become sick and loaded with toxins that are destructive to the body. They are God-made creatures, but they are not God-made foods.
In conclusion, when you're out shopping for food or eating at a restaurant, always ask yourself these two questions.
1. Is this a God-made food or a man-made food?
2. Was this a food 100 years ago?
If the answer to both of these questions is "YES" - then eat it and enjoy it.
If the answer to either of these questions is "NO" - then do NOT eat it because it is not healthy for your body and will cause you many health problems.

Dangerous Ingredients - Keys to Good Nutrition & to Eating Healthy Feast on Organic Whole Food

DANGEROUS INGREDIENTS
Secretly Lurking in Our Foods Today
Here are some examples of what is in many of our foods today - unknown and unseen by the general public.
Hormones, Steroids, Antibiotics found in animal products
Research shows these compounds can be absorbed by fruits and vegetables grown in soil treated with manure from animals fed antibiotics.
Toxins and Pollutants from contaminated soil and water
These can stay in our environment years after they've been banned, such as DDT.
Pesticides, Fertilizers, and Fumigants - These are all unnatural compounds.
MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) - MSG is a neurotoxic flavor enhancer that's hidden in many of our foods under a long list of deceiving names.
Partially Hydrogenated Oil - Gives baked goods and snacks longer shelf life but contains high levels of dangerous trans fat.
High Fructose Corn Syrup
With a high glycemic index, it converts to fat more than any other sugar. Usually made with genetically modified corn and genetically modified enzymes.
Genes from Bacteria, Viruses, Plants, Animals, and even Humans inserted into plants like soybeans, corn, canola, and cotton
Unlike traditional breeding, genetic engineering can create life forms that would normally never exist in nature. Shockingly, U.S. food manufacturers are NOT required to put "genetically modified" on any food labels! This leaves us in the dark.
Artificial Colors and Flavorings
Artificial colors are chemical compounds made mainly from coal-tar; artificial flavors are cheaply produced chemical mixtures that mimic natural flavors.
Artificial Sweeteners
Despite claims that these are "safe" food additives, remember, they are NOT natural. For example, aspartame is made up of three chemicals. These sweeteners are often toxic to the body and cause all kinds of serious health problems.
Benzoate Preservatives
These are phenolic compounds often added to food to preserve fats and prevent fats from becoming rancid; these preservatives produce low levels of hormones.
SO... What's the RESULT of all of these dangerous ingredients in our food?
Food that's been denatured, stripped of much of its nutritional value and integrity, and food that could potentially cause serious health issues.
But with THE FEAST, you get REAL NUTRITION.
Pure, concentrated,
unadulterated,
live,
whole food-based nutrition.
The Feast, by Uri International, is pure nutrition, free of dangerous ingredients.

Avoiding Surprise Ingredients in Fast Food - Keys to Eating Healthy & to Good Nutrition

I'd like to share an article I just read from NewsTarget.com on the surprise ingredients in fast food. Avoiding these kinds of health-destroying "surprises" is just one more of the keys to good nutrition and tips to eating healthy.
Click on the link below to read the full article.
Surprise Ingredients In Fast Food
After reading this article, it really makes you think twice before ever stopping to eat at one of the national chain fast food restaurants like Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, etc.
In fact, this article confirmed to me what I already suspected; namely, that fast food is loaded with very unhealthy and often toxic additives that cause people all kinds of health problems and that contribute to the growing problem of obesity in America.
The plain truth is this: if you're away from home and want to eat a healthy meal, DO NOT dare go to a fast food restaurant. It simply is not worth the risk to your health. Along similar lines, I have a sneaking suspicion that most chain restaurants are just as guilty when it comes to sneaking in all kinds of very unhealthy and toxic additives into the food they serve, so beware.
My conclusion is that you, and you alone, are responsible for your health and nutrition. DO NOT entrust your health and nutrition to fast food restaurants, or regular restaurants, or even to your local grocery store. Instead, you must educate yourself as to what good nutrition is and how to eat right, and then you've got to be proactive and find ways to make sure that you are only eating good healthy nutritious whole food.
And always remember this: the reasons that the fast food restaurants put such unhealthy and often toxic additives and junk (not even fit for animal feed) into the "food" they serve you are:
1. To make the food taste better (think "MSG," salt, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fat, etc.) so that you'll keep buying it over and over again.
2. To make you fat (think MSG, salt, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fat, etc.) All of these things also contribute to making you eat more of their food and to make you fat. Their philosophy is that fat people will eat more food and bring them greater profits.
3. To make you addicted to their food (think MSG, salt, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fat, etc.) Many of the super-unhealthy and toxic additives are added to get people addicted to fast food. For example, MSG is an "excito-toxin" that causes the brain and taste buds to over-react so that you get addicted to it and want more.
4. To make the fast food look more appealing (think food colorings, etc.)
Final Word from the Naked Nutrition Knight:
Fast food is destroying the health of America and the world; therefore, avoid it at all costs, no matter how good it looks or tastes! Fast food is all about looks and taste, but with the surprise ingredients it is dangerous to your health and will cause you all kinds of long-term health problems. In addition, fast food will make you fat, overweight, and possibly obese.
Start now learning how to eat right and how to give your body the good nutrition it craves, deserves, and needs to function and to live with long-term vitality. If you don't feed your body properly, it will let you down by breaking down, and then what do you have after you've lost your health? Nothing!

God-made Foods Vs. Man-made Products - Keys to Good Nutrition and Tips to Eating Healthy

"If it wasn't a food 100 years ago, it's a man-made product." - Brett Rademacher
Eliminating Health-Destroying Food Products is Key to Good Nutrition and Eating Healthy
Welcome to my blog. Today I'm going to share about some more food products that you should never eat or even have in your kitchen. One of the keys to eating healthy is to avoid these kinds of man-made refined food additives. If good nutrition is important to you, please be pro-active and remove these health-destroyers from your diet.
First, never eat food products that contain MSG (monosodium glutamate). MSG is an excitotoxin, is dangerous to your health, makes you fat, increases your appetite, and causes all kinds of physical and medical problems. Check out the book, Excitotoxins, the Taste that Kills, or the book, In Bad Taste, The MSG Complex. Do your own research on "the dangers of MSG." The food processing companies are putting this dangerous poison into many of our foods under different names in order to deceive the public. Don't be deceived; read labels carefully. Some of the hidden sources of MSG that show up on food labels include: glutamate, glutamic acid, gelatin, calcium caseinate, textured protein, monopotassium glutamate, sodium caseinate, yeast nutrient, yeast extract, yeast food, autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed protein, hydrolyzed corn gluten, natrium glutamate. Go to www.truthinlabeling.org and copy down the long list of other ingredients that often contain MSG or create MSG during processing. It's surprising to learn that soy sauce and teriyaki sauce create MSG during processing.
Second, eliminate all food products that contain high-fructose corn syrup, fructose, corn syrup, sucrose, multidextrin, corn syrup solids, dextrose, and white sugar. These additives are very unhealthy and will make you fat. These are all hidden sources of sugar in food products. In order to deceive you into thinking that sugar isn't the number one ingredient in a product, the food manufacturers will use a variety of sweeteners (as mentioned above) to divide up the sugar under separate names. In this way, wheat, for example, may appear to be the first ingredient (making up the largest ingredient on the label), but the truth is that when you add up all of the separate sweeteners, the sugar content is really the number one ingredient. Warning: food companies are putting high-fructose corn syrup in everything today because it is very inexpensive and because it makes you fatter than other sweeteners. You need to understand - the food industry wants you to be fat because fat people eat more food, thus increasing the sales and profits of the food companies. Become an expert at reading labels and avoiding this health-destroying poison.
Third, avoid all products containing hydrogenated oil (trans fat), partially hydrogenated oils, margarine, margarine-like products, shortening, Crisco, cottonseed oil, and palm oil. These are all man-made products that are actually toxic poisons. These fats attack the artery walls and cause heart problems. They also attack the intestine, kidneys, liver, spleen, and gallbladder, causing untold damage. The bad news is that these oils are virtually in every food product you buy today in the supermarket. Products containing high levels of trans fats include popular products such as Jif and Skippy peanut butter, prepackaged cake icings, candy bars, and almost anything that produces the "smooth mouth feel" on the tongue. These oils and margarine are as close as you can get to eating plastic. Despite what television ads try to say, butter is actually better for you than margarine. The main problem with all of these oils/fats is that we have taken natural foods and altered them into man-made toxic substances that the body cannot handle. One last word, avoid all products with cottonseed oil and palm oil, which are very unhealthy. Cotton is not even a food; it's what we make clothing out of. Why would you want to eat it? In summary, never eat anything that has hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, margarine, cottonseed oil, or palm oil in them. They are simply toxic and deadly to the body.
